San Francisco, Sacramento

Our annual family vacation this year (just the 3 of us) was to San Francisco and Sacramento. We got really cheap flights ($29 each way!) thru Southwest several months earlier and we left Thursday, November 4th. We visited the San Francisco sights (drove south to Half Moon Bay to see a GORGEOUS sunset the first night, then Lombard Street, Telegraph Hill and Coit Tower, Alcatraz, Golden Gate Park & Bridge, Fort Point, Bay Bridge, SF Giant's Stadium, Pier 39, Fisherman's Wharf, Ghirardelli Square, drove across the Golden Gate into Sausalito, cable cars, and Chinatown) until Sunday afternoon when we drove 2 hours to Sacramento.

In Sacramento, we stayed with our good friends, the Bairds, and had a great time visiting the Foresthill Bridge in Auburn (tallest Bridge in CA at 730 feet) over the American River, the State Capitol Building, and old town Sacramento on Monday. Monday morning was also Chelise's birthday and we had waffles topped with chocolate ice cream for breakfast. What a great tradition!

We had a GREAT family vacation. Here's the sad part. The week after we got back, we lost our camera. It makes me sick. All the pictures we took in San Francisco, of our family under the Golden Gate Bridge, at the Capitol building, and with our friends are all gone. I guess we'll just have to go back and visit again someday!

Here are a few pictures anyway. A couple were taken by our friends in the Sacramento school house. The others are courtesy of the internet. I tried to find pictures that were similar to ones I took in an attempt to replace some of what we lost. In fact most of these are the exact same shots and angles that you would have seen from my own camera.

Half Moon Bay, San Pedro Rock in San Mateo County at sunset. Breathtaking. Serene.

Lombard Street

Coit Tower

Alcatraz

Golden Gate Bridge over Fort Point.

Pier 39 & Fisherman's Wharf

Ghirardelli Square. It was raining this day so we got hot chocolate and free Ghiradelli Peppermint squares, yum.

The famous cable cars, and Chinatown. We saw both a couple times. (Side note: the streets in San Fran are crazy steep. Look at the "wall" behind the cable cars!)

Foresthill Bridge. We (the boys) spit and threw airplanes off the top.

California State Capitol.

State Assembly room in California State Capitol.

The Governator's office.

Old Town Sacramento.

Old Town Sac. school house.

Our friends' kids Kalem and Paxton.

Connor and his little friend Pax (and Kalem) were very cute school boys. (Fast forward 18 more years and maybe this will be the scene in the MTC!!)

We drove back to San Francisco that night to catch our flight at 7 (but our flight was an hour and a half late). It was a great trip. I'm missing the pictures I took, but looking forward to going back again to take more!
